How to use this dashboard
Four steps: 1) pick the dates, 2) pick what to compare with, 3) pick all outlets or one outlet, 4) open a tab. Everything on every tab follows those choices. Tap a heading below to open it.
The controls at the top
- Dates: use the first menu (Last day, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last month, All data) or choose Custom and set your own From and To dates. The data range is shown at the bottom of the page.
- Compare with: previous period is the period of the same length right before yours. Same days last week is 7 days back. Same days last year is 364 days back, so weekdays line up (a Monday is compared with a Monday).
- Outlet: All outlets, or one outlet. You can also tap an outlet name in the Outlets tab.
- Colours: ▲ green means higher than the comparison, ▼ orange means lower. A dash (–) means the comparison period is not fully in the data, so no growth is shown.
- ? opens this guide. Change password and Sign out are next to it.
Sales tab: how much did we sell and where from
- Net sales for your dates, with the change against your comparison.
- Channel buttons: All channels, Dine-in, Pickup. Tap Dine-in to split into AC and Non AC. Tap Pickup to split into Take away, Swiggy and Zomato. The whole page then shows only that channel.
- Below: sales, bills and average bill, dine-in covers, discounts and tax, outlet-wise sales, the daily trend line, top 20 items and categories.
- Discount by source: tap Dine-in or Pickup to open the AC, Non AC, Take away, Swiggy and Zomato rows.
Snapshot tab: one day, three comparisons
- Pick a day (Prev, Next, Latest or the date box). It shows that day against the previous day, the same weekday last week and the same weekday last year.
- The table lists every outlet with a Total row. Outlets with no sales that day are marked.
- Do first lists outlets that sold in the comparison day but not today. Biggest drops and gains show where to look. Choose which comparison to use with the buttons.
WTD MTD QTD YTD tab: week, month, quarter, year to date
- Choose an As of date. Each card shows sales so far this week, month, quarter or year, against the same elapsed days of the previous one and the same period last year.
- Weeks run Monday to Sunday. The year is April to March (FY); switch to Calendar year at the top if you want.
- The outlet-wise table shows all outlets for WTD, MTD, QTD and YTD. Switch between vs Previous and vs Last year. Growth is hidden for an outlet that was not trading for most of the comparison period.
- Also: the last 12 weeks, channel split and daily trend.
Growth tab: what drove the change
- Headline net sales, bills and average bill against your comparison.
- What moved shows how much each outlet, channel or category added or took away. Switch with the Outlet, Channel and Category buttons.
- Like-for-like keeps only outlets that traded in both periods, so a new or closed outlet does not distort growth.
Outlets tab: compare outlets and see why they moved
- Summary: the biggest gains and drops, each with the reasons: which channels moved, bills against average bill, discount rate, dine-in covers, trading days and the items that went up or down. Tap Show all outlets for every outlet.
- Sales by outlet and channel (the black line marks the comparison), the outlet table, and average daily sales by weekday for the last 26 weeks (darker is stronger).
- Tap an outlet name to filter the whole dashboard to that outlet.
- This tab always shows all channels together.
Menu tab: what is selling
- Top items, biggest risers and fallers, new and stopped items, category and super-category performance, category mix by outlet, top 3 items per outlet and the slowest sellers.
- Tap an item to see its detail. Use the outlet menu at the top to look at one outlet.
- Item data covers only the days in the item reports. Growth and risers appear only when both periods have full item data.
Food cost tab (preview)
- Ideal food cost = quantity sold x recipe quantity x purchase rate. It is what the food should have cost with no wastage or over-portioning.
- Quantities sold are real POS data. Recipes and purchase rates are sample values for a few items until the real recipe and purchase files are added.
- Actual food cost needs stock and purchase data, which is not in these files yet.
What the numbers mean
- Net sales: sales after discounts plus charges, before tax. This is the figure used everywhere on the Sales, Snapshot, WTD, Growth and Outlets tabs.
- Item sales do not include charges and are not split by channel, so the item total is slightly lower than net sales.
- Channels: Dine-in is AC plus Non AC (Non food, Dine out and any new tab count as Non AC, or AC where an outlet has no Non AC). Pickup is Take away plus Swiggy plus Zomato.
- Average bill: net sales divided by bills. Covers are dine-in guests: per bill is covers divided by dine-in bills, per cover is dine-in net sales divided by covers.
- Discount rate: discount divided by gross sales.
- Like-for-like: an outlet counts when it traded on at least 80% of days in both periods.
- Not in these files: payment mix, tax by type and offline status. They need other reports.
Reconciliation and P&L (coming soon)
- Reconciliation: matching POS sales with bank credits and delivery app payouts.
- P&L: outlet-wise profit and loss.
- These two tabs are placeholders for now.
Data and access
- Data comes from the POS Tabwise and Item reports and is updated when the daily update is run. The footer shows the last update time.
- Works on phone, tablet and computer. If something looks old, press Ctrl+F5 (phone: close and reopen the page).
